Mixed Doubles Trophy

Entrants will be paired on the day.

Mixed Doubles Trophy 17th August 2025

Twenty One SBC members entered the Mixed Doubles Trophy which was held this weekend Sunday 17th August 2025.

All the rounds were well contested to 15 points, with couples being drawn randomly. After the preliminary rounds it left Pam Harrison, and Andy Wilson, Elaine Gilmore and Martin Smith, Peter Lloyd and Sue Law, Alison Barlow and Duncan Clark contesting in the semi-Finals to 15 points.

The results were:

Sue and Peter 10 v Ali and Duncan 15.

Pam and Andy 5 v Elaine and Martin 15.

In the Final, after Elaine and Martin went ahead to lead by 7 points, we saw a determined fight-back by Ali and Duncan, which made it a good game to watch.

Elaine and Martin did maintain their lead and would go onto win to 21 v 18.

Well done both.

Catering was available all day by Leah, thank you, with the event coordination by Lesley, a well done there for the fixture permutations!

A tabletop was coordinated by Nicola Clarke and Sarah Greaves, which raised funds for the ongoing irrigation fund, thank you both, and with the “black out”, raffle and event proceeds heading to the fund also.

Thank you to those for buying the tickets or donating cakes and again everyone attending and taking part making it another great day in the sun at SBC.

Mixed Doubles Trophy 4th August 2024

A huge thank you to all thirty five entrants and supporters who attended the club for the Mixed Doubles Trophy Game and made it such a successful event.

The preliminary round left us with sixteen teams for the start of the first round, all playing for a place in the quarter final and the quarter finals gave us the semi finals:-

Alison Barlow and Mick Loomes v Audrey Parry and Mike Oldbury - 21-10

Paul Skerrett and Ann Humphrey v Lesley Wilson and Ciaran Guilfore- 21-19

Alison and Mick v Paul and Ann were the finalists and ultimately it was Alison and Mick who took the trophy - 21-2.

Very well done to all who participated and huge congratulations to Alison and Mick who will be presented with their engraved trophy (and small purse) at this year’s AGM.

Many thanks to Leah for providing us with food and drink all day long.

Hopefully a profitable day for the Club and a good day had by all.

The mixed doubles trophy game is open to all members of the club so look out for the date next year and put it in your calendar. (You don’t need to enter with anyone as a drawer determines the teams.) Hopefully this will become an annual event as it has been in the past.
