Dickie Cup - 14th September 2025
The Dickie Cup competition took place on Sunday, 14 September, 2025, and despite the worries of impending downpours the rain managed to hold off until the latter stages of the semi-finals.
There were twenty one entries all vying for the coveted Dickie Cup.
The winners of the quarter finals gave us semi finalists Bill Grant v Duncan Clarke and Mike Parry v Sue Law. Bill took the game against Duncan 15-8 and Sue the game against Mike 15-5.
Bill and Sue had a great game but ultimately it was Bill who won 21-12. Many congratulations to Bill on winning the Dickie Cup which was presented to him by last year’s winner, Audrey, and many congratulations also to Sue who only joined the Club this year and is proving to be a formidable player.
Many thanks to Leah who, as always, provided us with refreshments throughout the competition, and to everyone else who helped achieve another great competition day at the Club.
This is the last outdoor competition of the season. Many thanks to everyone who has participated and/or helped run the competitions over the season and made them such a great success raising much needed moneys for the Club. A new competition schedule will be drawn up for next season.
Just a reminder that there is a list inside the Club where you can add your name if you would like to take part in the short mat bowling which is due to commence on 13th October, session times to be confirmed.

Dickie Cup - 8th September 2024
The Dickie Cup was played at Spondon on 8 September 2024 and another lovely day had by all. They say the Sun shines on the righteous so we must all be doing something good because what started as a very wet day, (making the greens particularly arduous),turned into a lovely sunny afternoon.
We had twenty entrants and some cracking matches were played out resulting in semi finals between Audrey Parry and Mick Looms and Mike Oldbury and Barry Boole but ultimately, after well battled matches, the final was played by Audrey and Barry with Audrey winning the fabulous Dickie Cup 21-14. A very worthy winner.
Leah was in her element as usual keeping us all fed and watered - thank you Leah.
The Dickie Cup is open to all club members and is a fabulous cup to win. We will hopefully be repeating this competition in some format next year and so it’s well worth looking out for details.
